4. Phone Numbers and SMS Messaging

SpotBird collects and processes phone numbers to provide SMS notification services. This section explains how we handle phone number data:

4.1 Phone Number Collection

Business users add phone numbers of their waitlist contacts to the Service. These phone numbers are collected with the consent of the contact, as obtained by the business user.

4.2 How We Use Phone Numbers

  • To send SMS notifications about available appointment slots on behalf of businesses
  • To send confirmation messages when appointments are claimed
  • To process opt-out requests (STOP messages)

4.3 SMS Message Delivery

We use Twilio, a third-party SMS service provider, to deliver text messages. When we send an SMS, your phone number is transmitted to Twilio solely for message delivery purposes. Twilio's privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy.

4.4 Phone Number Protection

  • We do not sell, rent, or share phone numbers with third parties for marketing purposes
  • Phone numbers are stored securely and encrypted at rest
  • Access to phone number data is restricted to authorized personnel only
  • Phone numbers are deleted when a contact is removed from a waitlist or upon account deletion

4.5 Opting Out of SMS Messages

  • Twilio: Our SMS delivery provider, to send text messages on behalf of businesses to their waitlist contacts
  • Stripe: Our payment processor, to handle subscription billing securely
  • Google: When you connect your Google Calendar, to access calendar data for cancellation detection
  • Professional advisors (lawyers, accountants) as needed
  • Law enforcement when required by law or to protect our rights

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
